September 1

Posted by Chris De Hous | 1 comments

The first of September always is a special moment. Vacations are over, children back to school, … it marks a new beginning.

Also in business we notice the difference. Customers are back, business picks up again. It is also a moment when I typically start thinking about initiatives to be launched in the last part of the year. A quick check in Wikipedia taught me that the first of September is the 244th day of the year. It also means there are 121 days remaining until the end of the year. So 1/3 to go.

With batteries recharged and energy refreshed, I am looking forward to see how we will end the year and launch ourselves in the new one, 2010. Already...

Best,

Chris

Failure is an option

Posted by Mieke

Hi Chris,

It is indeed a very good moment to make some reflections on the past and start thinking on the future.

During last months I spent a lot of free time investigating why organisations are innovative, are successful even in hard times. I attended seminars on innovation, had discussions with inspirational CEO’s, and noticed one ‘red thread’ through all testimonials.
What are the characteristics of an innovation platform?
It is not surprising that it’s all about learning, teamwork, risk taking, courage, authenticity, being outside office…
But the main characteristic, the red thread, goes about failure.

Failure is an option.

From efficiency driven to creativity driven organisations.
Creativity driven organisations give up being safe: they use the ability, the power to make changes, the power of transformation from the past to the unknown future.
Innovation goes about the fire of spontaneity, intuition, imagination, creativity.
One has to accept that the future is unknown and that transformation to the future implies challenges and that it’s OK to make mistakes.

Thanks for weaving this red thread of innovation in the future of Trasys.
