Electricity - Warehouse automation & applications maintenance project

Some years ago, the general direction of “Electrabel Distribution Wallonia” decided to gather all their principal stores of Wallonia in one completely robotized store. This brand new logistic centre was expected to bring higher performance in managing stocks of parts and material. A new IT system had to be developed in order to bring maximal automation of the store.
Solution
Trasys provided the Warehouse Management System (WMS) software which manages the physical site as well as the operators’ activities for taking away, filling, forwarding and inventory. This software has been interfaced with SAP R/3 to carry out the exchange of the orders and confirmations of reception or exit of material and inventories. It was also interconnected with the handling control system in order to give the orders and track the movements of storage/destocking of the automatic stores drawers and pallets. Trasys ensures the maintenance of WMS, merely for changes of the applications and assistance to the operators. Several improvements have also been made upon physical extensions of the warehouse, standardization of articles’ nomenclature and optimization of the entries out of drawers. The IT infrastructure of the system includes 4 levels:
inventory control via SAP/R3 software.
management of the storage areas (WMS) carried out by Wasco software from Trasys
movements management (Handling System Control)
programmable automats controlling diverse parts of the site such as transstockers and convoying system.
