Energy distribution - SAP implementation and maintenance project
Environment
In Belgium, communes typically own distribution rights relating to electricity, gas and water towards residential clients and small enterprises. Most have joined forces by creating so-called ‘intercommunales’ that provide public utility services. Some of those intercommunales work closely with partners from the private sector to whom they delegate the management of the distribution networks. One of them is assigned by several communes for the exploitation of a large distribution network in Wallonia. Facing new regulation for guaranteeing minimal service to ‘protected’ clients with very low revenues, it has chosen to implement a SAP-based solution for optimalizing the administration of contracts, bills and payments.
Solution
As regulation and tarification are changing regularly while the customer base is growing rapidly, flexibility and ease of maintenance are critical elements for the client in order to maintain the level of service to their clients.
