Pharmaceutical sector - SAP-based supply chain implementation

Many of our projects address critical and strategic issues for our customers who, therefore, choose to not disclose their name”.

Environment

The client, one of the world’s leading vaccine manufacturers, supplies around 25% of the world’s vaccines. A large part of their workforce is based in Belgium, which is home to their headquarters along with R&D and production facilities.
In order to cope with the drastic growth of the company and to ensure drastic improvements in their production line, the client undertook the project to restructure supply chain with the objective of implementing a brand new SAP-based information system and supporting the new company’s organization. The client has decided to deploy mySAP ERP with two complementary partners, Trasys and PWC.

Solution

Trasys started the project by focusing on the implementation and deployment of mySAP ERP solution. In just a couple of months, both the financial basis and the production environment went live for the major core-business functionalities. Secundary functionnalities were progressively implemented, synchronously with procurement of the non-inventory product, inventory management and quality control of raw materials. In a last pahase, and upon requirments of the client, the production and quality management system was progressively deployed in the different laboratoria and production areas of the company. Trasys also supported the international deployment across Europe, Canada and the USA by providing SAP ressources, assisitng businesses in the installation of the warehouse management systems and designing new processes such as calibration and maintenance management ones.

Benefits

Thanks to the new system, the client has been able to realize its ambitious develoment plan and to sustain a 2-digit growth thanks to the new supply chain environment. Besides this, the whole system has been designed to be completely FDA (Food & Drug Administration) compliant, thus aligning all the processes with the particularly strict regulatory and certification constraints of the pharmaceutical industry.
