Environment

The client is a leader in Belgian real estate for mor than 100 years. Its core activity of property development is applied in offices, residential and land development. Due to expansion, the client decided in 2008 for a total outsourcing of its IT infrastructure in order to reduce its total cost of ownership while having the newest IT infrastructure to improve business processes.

Solution

The first phase of the total IT outsourcing assigned to Trasys consisted out of a study to consolidate and migrate the existing servers. The driver was to enable a technology refresh, virtualise and consolidate servers, upgrade the OS to the supported levels, improve utilisation and availability of hardware, enhance infrastructure management and adopt an industry standard network infrastructure to communicate and share data between servers. In a second phase, 4 standard workstation models have been deployed using a unique tool for installing configuring and maintaining the desired level of standardization and security on these laptops and desktops. To make sure that the various goals of service level agreements were met, Trasys implemented a monitoring solution to inform engineers about potential problems before downtime.
Afterwards, end-user support and system response time has been improved by the set-up of a service desk dedicated to handling incidents and assistance requests and acting as a single point of contact for pre-defined groups of users. Working by means of electronic tickets, the service desk is responsible for processing the tickets regardless its origin, either internal IT or an external provider, and for taking corrective actions to solve any incident.

Trasys used the latest technology to optimized the server and network environment for optimal managability and availability. All issues regarding the installation, configuration, asset management and helpdesk ticketing are now covered with one single tool while minimizing the cost and deployment time of the project.
